What grows HalalVera is evidence: every place added, every explainer written, every visit made. If you'd like to take on part of that work, you can apply below.
What do volunteers do?
We take contributions in four areas. You can pick more than one.
Suggesting places and products
Suggest places and products in your city that aren't in the catalogue yet, and fill in what's missing — address, contact details, opening hours, a photo of the certificate.
Contributing to the knowledge base
Write sourced explainers or update existing ones. What's expected: real sources that name the institution and link to its own publication, and contested questions reported from both sides.
Field visits
Go to a place and record what you observe: how the kitchen is arranged, whether a certificate is on display, what the staff answer when asked. Your observation becomes input to the team's review.
Translation and language support
Translate interface text and knowledge base articles between Turkish, English and Arabic, and report translations that are wrong or missing.
How it works
- 1You send the form; your application lands in the team's candidate pool.
- 2The team reviews it — which area you could contribute to, and in which city.
- 3You hear back at your account's email address, and the rest is discussed there.
What is not asked of a volunteer
Badge and verification-tier decisions are not a volunteer's to make. Raising a listing to the certified or field-verified tiers stays with the HalalVera team — a volunteer's observation is input to that decision, not the decision itself. In the same way, a volunteer does not issue religious rulings about a place; they report what they saw.

To be clear: volunteering is unpaid today. Even so, we want to share where we intend to take this work, and where volunteers stand in that picture.
If and when the portal starts generating revenue
We aim for HalalVera to become an active portal and to begin earning revenue from field operations and advertising. Should we reach that point, we intend to share that revenue with the volunteers and the team who made it possible.
The token goal
The project has a token goal. If such a programme is put into practice, the intention is for volunteers and the team to benefit from it as well. There is no sale, distribution or call to participate today.
What you gain today
Real experience in field observation, source verification and content work; working alongside the team, and a reference if you ask for one. These stand on their own, independently of the aims above.
There is no payment, revenue-sharing or entitlement programme in force today. What is described above are forward-looking aims; they may not happen and may change, and none of it is a commitment. Volunteering is unpaid today.
